so there are my breakfasts..:

ok, so the fruit, i did not make at home 😉

there were my lunches:

this was my super veggie sandwich,

rudi’s 7 grain bread is amazing! if you have not yet tried….do so now! please 😉

i also made a super deluxe veggie wrap….although….this picture does not justify its super deluxe-ness….

oh and this….this was a lovely treat from my lovely husband….

he prepared it for me the night before while he was getting dinner together as i ventured home from school….in my beautiful new car might i add ;)..

oh but back to this….it was like a yam pudding heaven….and i was in yam pudding heaven when i ate it….it made work and school all better..and it was made with love from my love so i felt a sentimental value nourishing my body too.

kale smoothies that have been absent for way too long!

  • kale
  • mango
  • almond butter
  • activia

a girl that made me happy all week :

a car that made me happy all week!

..it was spending time with its honda friend while i was at school..

have a great week beauties!

a week of green and orange

its been such a busy week: hence the no blogging status!

so busy that i have not had time to do the usual lunch prepping everyday.

when this happens i turn to a few of my go to whole foods options: they happened to be a lot of orange and a lot of green-including the repetition of mango almost everyday!

anyone know how good carrots and almond butter is?

i am finally aware….it is a definite goodie!

whole foods goodies:

includes:

raw kale salad-with pine nuts and dried cranberries

brussel sprout and golden beet salad- with walnuts and thyme

kale and beet salad- with feta and dried cranberries

egg and cheese breakfast wrap- it was a first but really did the job!

caesar salad- with a few salad bar extras

and this delicious once in a while muffin….

yes its bran….but yes i love it !

honey bran muffin with walnuts on top:

what are your favorite quick grabs??

a little bit of us this week:

she gets a bit competitive with me for ryes attention!

ps: i got a new car!!

it has changed my life….i am in love with it!

how cute is this:

such a guy:

chow!

have i mentioned how starving those work out videos make me..

i believed for so long that cardio served as a workout….well yes cardio is an important part to be factored into to your workout and to remain just one element- the other element is putting those muscle groups to work!

i was also a non believer in workout videos, i never thought that i could get a well rounded workout from them and feel satisfied at the end of them- but this was all from assumption..and i was very wrong.

not only have i noticed the burn! the pain, feeling soar, but my normal eating habits just dont cut it!

anyhow, they work for me, and i really enjoy them 🙂

yesterdays breakfast:

  • fage 0%
  • 1/2 grapefruit
  • 1/2 mango
  • tbls honey almond butter
  • 1/4 cup natures path all bran
  • delicious 😉

ps- i ❤ mango lately….not only is it completely satisfying, full of vitamins b, c and e, beta carotene, potassium and magnesiem and even said to have a lot of tryptophan- increases seritonin- but they are so beautiful!

.. did i sell you up there??

alice and i had some girl time in the sun.

it was a beautiful hike after all of the rain that l.a. had on sunday with a lovely breeze to cool us down from the sweet hot sun:

after my hike i attempted to make a green smoothie with the rest of my morning fruit, vanilla whey, spinach, spiroline, and raw honey….i failed ! it was awful.. i maybe drank half….no bueno.

later i had a carrot dipped in almond butter….first time….its a good snack!

i made hibiscus sun tea- it is truly incredible.

it almost tastes like a less tart cranberry juice but has a deep flavor to it at the end.

also known as –Jamaica

simply :

  • hibiscus flowers (dried)
  • water
  • sun
  • delicious

we had the the yummiest dinner!

sauteed veggies over greens:

and i had a spread of bread and cheese, ryan had a trader joes andoulie sausage-hot dog style.

we watched due date- it was decent.. not as great as i had hoped, but i got a few laughs out.

we had trader joes chocolate covered peanut butter pretzels that my cousin got me started on….

have you tried…..they are ridiculous..so good!

we cuddled..alice was creepin into our photo:

xoxo

what day is it anyway?

the days just seem to be blending in together.

wednesday was a school day.

i was really tired from my night with audrey..i didnt get the rest i am used to during the week.

i am in love with kombucha 2000!!

they are amazing and i just cannot go back to g.t.

besides, g.t. kombucha just has not been the same since the era of the recall….it used to make me sad, but now i have moved on to better things; k-2000 😉 😉

i was exhausted when i finally made it back to my side of town around 8 that night and picked up baja fresh.

they really impressed me, i got the grilled mahi tacos which were delicious, light and left me feeling good. it is nice to have relatively healthy options in the fast food world these days.

alice was ready for bed with me..not to mention trying to coerce me into giving her some of my dinner….sorry ali:

tuesday i had a biometric screening for work.

i had to fast through work-no breakfast but harder..no coffee.

my testing was at 11:45-

you are tested on:

weighed, measured, blood pressure taken, and blood drawn- blood to find test whether you are a smoker, have good cholestoral and blood sugar levels.

i was marked at 5’7 which i was pleased about and 117lbs- one of our scales is off but i was happy to take their word for it.

blood pressure was perfectly healthy.

now i wait for my blood work results and if everything come out healthy i get a 30% discount on all of whole foods products rather than my 20!

fingers crossed 🙂

when 2 was nearing i was ready to eat!!

i had my usual salad on my mind and a delicious kombucha!!

i sent ryan a “yeyy me for being healthy” photo:

and a picture of the new zevia flavors that i got ! i love grape soda! (healthy diet soda-sweetend with stevia)

then alice and i headed out for some time together in the sun.

monday tuesday happy days..

hi beauties!

so the weeks are jam packed.

between work, school, the commute, the traffic, the homework, the fitness, & the alice….

well i just cannot seem to find much time anywhere in between!

monday morning i was up at 4- i decided to do some workout videos at home and skip the gym.

do you know that if you have “on demand” there are tons of great workout videos for free! (some better than others..just go fishing and take the good stuff.)

i did a 26 min. “legs and butt” by crunch gym…its so awesome!

i can tell it really works because not to long after my body demands food.

then i did a 23 min. abs..good stuff.

i have been trying to save money, so i made my coffee that morning! and it was so nice to finish a work out and just walk into the kitchen and be ready to move onto getting ready. (as opposed to driving to the gym..driving back..in the cold..in the dark..in a rush..)

for breakfast i did a mixer:

(couldnt decide..oatmeal or cereal..so why not both)

  • “better oats” packet with a bit of hot water (to get everyone acquainted)
  • unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 365 honey morning o’s
  • weetibix crispy flakes
  • natures path smart bran…

delicious!

i was surprised when 11 came creeping around because i was surprisingly starving!

i figured breakfast would tie me over at least for a little longer but it was time.

sorry if these salads are getting boring but i really just cant get enough!

on my way to school i had a treat:

when i got home the kids were more than ready to eat..it was nearing 8..

they went to town..alice took a breather for a sec to check that dave didnt have anything special going on that she wasnt apart of:

did i tell you about my adorable cheese board!

well its so cute:

for din i threw down a quick and most scrumptious grilled cheese.. nice, simple and delicious!

have you had pop chips yet? it was my first try…they are really good!

and a little night cap before sleeping….sometimes i just cant sleep without something sweet to settle me down!

tuesday was very similar…i am sorry..same old same old….but it pleases me..if that makes any difference:

i brought my coffee..wohoo for me 2x in a row 😉

salad of course..this time with my fave sesame crackers!

i snacked on the amazing sumo tangerine on the way to school:

and for dinner i stopped and got baja fresh mahi tacos…. 😉 it was late..they were delicious.

junkie sunday

enjoying coffee and breakfast at home is truly a peaceful and joyous occassion for me..

this weekend i was a bachelorette.

i awoke at 3:45 to drive rye to his departing destination.

i was back at home and asleep again by 4:30.

the feeling of going back to sleep when the night was still dark and the air was still cold,

and getting into that cozy bed,

was unexplainably wonderful.

when i awoke around 9,

i made some successful coffee:

i started on my homework around 10:30 and hardly had time to eat any breakfast!

i decided it was time to take a break and eat something when noon was nearing.

i didnt even have time to put any thought or time into something memorable.

it was decent but nothing special.

  • 365 honey morning o’s
  • fiber cereal
  • chia/fiber mix
  • almond butter
  • pear
  • unsweetened van. alm. milk

my cousin sent me the cutest picture ever of her inspired oats in a marmalade jar:

i continued on with my homework and worked dilegently until 2 and needed another break!!

i went for a quick workout and before i knew it i was back to work again..

i called it a day around 5 and threw down the rest of the salad from the ramen night before my night out with some co-workers:

i ate it so quickly i almost forgot to take a picture:

it was a fun night! we went to a bar called carbon in century city.

a bit to loud for my comfort but fun.

i was out until 2!! i cannot remember the last time i was awake at 2 much less out.

as you can imagine i had been drinking and arrived home with the munchies.

i hadnt eaten much all day, i had a few bites of sushi that was left over at a friends before the bar but that was dinner along with the rest of that salad.

on the way home they stopped and got jack in the box….i did not participate..

i made myself the most delicious grilled cheese!!

2:30 in the morning and i was happily eating a grilled cheese….who was that person?

ps for dessert i had some honey morning o’s. then i was off to bed.

Sunday was a quiet, homework, laundry lounge day.

alice, dave and i missed ryan.

alice got me up around 10 for a walk. i was very thankful to her.

another delicious coffee at home time!

see what happens when ryan is away….:

i wasnt very hungry after my late snacking saturday night after the bar.

after a work out and around 2 all i wanted was a salmon veggie salad!

i was really trying to want something breakfast-y and sweet but it just wasnt for me..

this was amazing.

i worked on it while i worked on an essay.

i was a fast food junkie for dinner:

i added a few special touches to my ramen:

i discovered this new vodka..

i never like vodka but this is fantastic!

it it absolute “wild tea”, mix it with tonic water and a slice of lime….its so good.

ps did i mention what my wonderful man brought me before he left!:

ramen

Thursday I had the remaining brussel sprouts from dinner the night before in a beautiful salad

ps did i mention ryan made them and they were ridiculously amazing! ok, well there i said it now, brussel sprouts i am such a fan of yours 😉

followed by a delicious snack before my workout!

if you have not yet discovered the ‘sumo’ tangerines, you have to try them, they are seasonal and amazing!

i normally am not a citrus fruit kind of gal but i have been pretty into these lately.

accompanied by some 365 honey morning o’s, chia/fiber blend and unsweetened vanilla almond milk:

friday i treated myself to my fave veggie sandwich!

complimented by a zevia ginger rootbeer and ketchup:

ps the zevia is 0 cal. and its sweetened by stevia. it is really not bad. the root-beer is my favorite.

i was really craving a pre-made smoothie juice, i try to stay away from them for the most part because of all of the sugar but every now and then is fine. i felt really good after i drank it and it fueled me during a great workout.

rye was getting ready for his trip all day. hes leaving town for work for almost 2 weeks. he brought home these ‘healthy’ ramens. i was really not to excited about them, but i was wrong. i grew up on top ramen and always loved it..(i know its a terrible thing to admit)

this ramen hit the spot!

we threw in the leftover chinese from the night before.

the salads were huge..i couldnt even finish half of mine. but it was delicious!

i am going to miss my sweet man!
