Sunday Brunch

ok….so i have a secret….this is a sunday brunch from last sunday….but that doesn’t take away any of its sunday brunch special-ness dignity right?!

yes this is how behind i am….how do you all do it?

with work, school, my working out schedule and and fullfilling my duty to attain a somewhat high standard as a wife at home….i just cant find the time to fit in my bloggin at the end of the day…. i apologize- ill fit you guys in better somehow ūüėČ

so anyhow, look at what my husband blessed me with last sunday for brunch….

we didnt eat until about 1 and i was becoming impatient and starving-however, the wait was worth it:

our menu included:

  • rudis 7 grain bread french toast
  • egg¬†frittata
  • fresh fruit
  • coffee
  • love

it was absolutely delicious and after devouring my entire plate, i was well fueled for our hike with alice later.

alice had some breakfast too :

eggs for alice:

no coffee for you miss alice..

later that day we came home and called it a day on the couch.

we watched gangs of new york- which we had not seen.

i was very impressed….and it is a very violent movie might i add….

but the acting is great.

i felt so guilty because i like the villans acting so much that i kept being tricked into liking his character and….he was a very, very bad man!

after lots of yummy assorted appetizing treats throughout our movie,

it was more mac and cheese for dinner!

ryans take this time:

alice was really ready for bed!!

never fail breakfast

this is a breakfast i just cant ever get enough of and always seems to be ever so satisfying.

this is why i have had it all week!

ode to cereal….

special coffee at work:

good black coffee with a few of my own special toppers:

breakfast is complete!

special coffee

dedicated to jenny, aka “http://fitgirlfoodie.wordpress.com/”

fancy coffee at home:

  • brew some coffee- i have organic peets blend at the moment
  • get some delicious creamer and toppings: i got the “foam” from whole foods-its a 0 calorie vanilla “cappuccino” foam that goes on like whipped cream, it¬†evaporates¬†quickly but leaves a really yummy flavor lingering in your coffee, and it looks really special at first. whipped cream is good too!
  • add some¬†sweetener-i like truvia
  • and a dash of¬†cinnamon.
  • and have a lovely morning!

and for saturday morning breakfast:

after a good 2 hours of morning essay writing i decided on a mango-orange-green smoothie ūüėČ

  • 1 mango
  • 1 orange
  • a few handfuls of spinach
  • a little almond milk
  • 2 ice cubes

it was a really good one!

i also treated myself to some peanut butter jelly pancakes!

..its embarrassing..i used ready to be made mix that comes a package that looks like a whipped cream bottle..

even more embarrassing it took me a few tries to make them..alice helped me get rid of the ones that didn’t make it onto the plate.

overall they were good. topped with a little peanut butter, a bit of strawberry jam and a dash of raw honey.

and how cute was this sleepy head that i walked in on:

the smoothie and pancakes helped to fuel a good workout.

  • 30 min.¬†stair stepper
  • squats
  • biceps¬†curls
  • row
  • kickbacks
  • abs
  • plank

when i got home i did a mega clean up! the house is tidy ready for ryan to be back in it!

monday tuesday happy days..

hi beauties!

so the weeks are jam packed.

between work, school, the commute, the traffic, the homework, the fitness, & the alice….

well i just cannot seem to find much time anywhere in between!

monday morning i was up at 4- i decided to do some workout videos at home and skip the gym.

do you know that if you have “on demand” there are tons of great workout videos for free! (some better than others..just go fishing and take the good stuff.)

i did a 26 min. “legs and butt” by crunch gym…its so awesome!

i can tell it really works because not to long after my body demands food.

then i did a 23 min. abs..good stuff.

i have been trying to save money, so i made my coffee that morning! and it was so nice to finish a work out and just walk into the kitchen and be ready to move onto getting ready. (as opposed to driving to the gym..driving back..in the cold..in the dark..in a rush..)

for breakfast i did a mixer:

(couldnt decide..oatmeal or cereal..so why not both)

  • “better oats” packet with a bit of hot water (to get everyone¬†acquainted)
  • unsweetened¬†vanilla almond milk
  • 365 honey morning o’s
  • weetibix crispy flakes
  • natures path smart bran…

delicious!

i was surprised when 11 came creeping around because i was surprisingly starving!

i figured breakfast would tie me over at least for a little longer but it was time.

sorry if these salads are getting boring but i really just cant get enough!

on my way to school i had a treat:

when i got home the kids were more than ready to eat..it was nearing 8..

they went to town..alice took a breather for a sec to check that dave didnt have anything special going on that she wasnt apart of:

did i tell you about my adorable cheese board!

well its so cute:

for din i threw down a quick and most scrumptious grilled cheese.. nice, simple and delicious!

have you had pop chips yet? it was my first try…they are really good!

and a little night cap before sleeping….sometimes i just cant sleep without something sweet to settle me down!

tuesday was very similar…i am sorry..same old same old….but it pleases me..if that makes any difference:

i brought my coffee..wohoo for me 2x in a row ūüėČ

salad of course..this time with my fave sesame crackers!

i snacked on the amazing sumo tangerine on the way to school:

and for dinner i stopped and got baja fresh mahi tacos…. ūüėČ it was late..they were delicious.

junkie sunday

enjoying coffee and breakfast at home is truly a peaceful and joyous occassion for me..

this weekend i was a bachelorette.

i awoke at 3:45 to drive rye to his departing destination.

i was back at home and asleep again by 4:30.

the feeling of going back to sleep when the night was still dark and the air was still cold,

and getting into that cozy bed,

was unexplainably wonderful.

when i awoke around 9,

i made some successful coffee:

i started on my homework around 10:30 and hardly had time to eat any breakfast!

i decided it was time to take a break and eat something when noon was nearing.

i didnt even have time to put any thought or time into something memorable.

it was decent but nothing special.

  • 365 honey morning o’s
  • fiber cereal
  • chia/fiber mix
  • almond butter
  • pear
  • unsweetened van. alm. milk

my cousin sent me the cutest picture ever of her inspired oats in a marmalade jar:

i continued on with my homework and worked dilegently until 2 and needed another break!!

i went for a quick workout and before i knew it i was back to work again..

i called it a day around 5 and threw down the rest of the salad from the ramen night before my night out with some co-workers:

i ate it so quickly i almost forgot to take a picture:

it was a fun night! we went to a bar called carbon in century city.

a bit to loud for my comfort but fun.

i was out until 2!! i cannot remember the last time i was awake at 2 much less out.

as you can imagine i had been drinking and arrived home with the munchies.

i hadnt eaten much all day, i had a few bites of sushi that was left over at a friends before the bar but that was dinner along with the rest of that salad.

on the way home they stopped and got jack in the box….i did not participate..

i made myself the most delicious grilled cheese!!

2:30 in the morning and i was happily eating a grilled cheese….who was that person?

ps for dessert i had some honey morning o’s. then i was off to bed.

Sunday was a quiet, homework, laundry lounge day.

alice, dave and i missed ryan.

alice got me up around 10 for a walk. i was very thankful to her.

another delicious coffee at home time!

see what happens when ryan is away….:

i wasnt very hungry after my late snacking saturday night after the bar.

after a work out and around 2 all i wanted was a salmon veggie salad!

i was really trying to want something breakfast-y and sweet but it just wasnt for me..

this was amazing.

i worked on it while i worked on an essay.

i was a fast food junkie for dinner:

i added a few special touches to my ramen:

i discovered this new vodka..

i never like vodka but this is fantastic!

it¬†it absolute “wild tea”, mix it with¬†tonic water and a slice of lime….its so good.¬†

ps did i mention what my wonderful man brought me before he left!:

catching up

hi everyone!

wow it has been so long, and the busy bee has been buzzing in circles around me.

i have so much to share..but i will attempt not to overwhelm you.

i had a short visit to oakland for a much need sister-cousin- visit with my girls.

ok so, lately..

i have figured out, there are oatmeal phases, and there are cereal phases!

ive been needing cereal lately..

why is it so good..its really not filling but it is so good.

i could eat it everyday, anytime of day, and i like it for breakfast or desert!

i like the healthy types, and the sugary kinds, and i especially like them combined in one happy bowl.

ok, ok..so i have also been having a lot of these delicious, colorful, beautiful salads.

sorry to if this is repetitive but they are just so satisfying.

i have switched things up from time to time:

we’ve had lot of treats:

this girl was being cute all the while! :

beauties:

we have been alternating- i make you din, you make me din:

sometimes we have to leave dinner out for them to come home to, with hearts:

and more treats:

and i have to thank these lovelies for always being there to warm me up or pick me up!

oakland bound

my cousin and i drove up last friday, anyone remember the rumor that there would be snow near l.a.?

well there were patches here and there of rain that was trying to be snow,

however, there was..a lot..of rain. were we crazy to leave oakland bound on a late friday afternoon?

yes, a little.

it took about 7+ hours to accomplish our destination, but it was worth it.

i came prepared of course with plenty of snacks and goodies to tie us over.

these helped:

americano’s with sweet dollops of whipped cream clouds.

we arrived late and the sweetest baby in the world was already sleeping.

us girls got a little catching up time in, and snacked on peanut-butter m&m’s and hersheys chocolate eggs to help us venture off to bed.

we took little baby ruby to the oakland zoo. i think i was much more excited that she was.

and we had a lovely girls night with yummy treats:

the trip was short but sweet. i miss you already oakland!
